Widescreen iBooks, coming?
TheRegister reports that EDN claims Asustek will produce a 15.4" widescreen iBook, which would possibly replace the 14" iBook, which has long been too big for its screen's resolution.
A 15.4" widescreen model would certainly put some pressure on the PowerBooks again, depending on the price tag, of course. The iBook line is in for a refreshment soon (the iBook has never had such a long period before being updated before). I have to ask myself, though, why it's the large iBook that gets a wide screen before the 12" PowerBook is replaced with a 13" widescreen model...
For those who haven't yet understood the switch to intel: These new iBooks will use a PowerPC G4 processor, of course, since Apple will only introduce intel-based Macs in June 2006. Apple will support PowerPC based Macs for a long time to come, although G3-based Macs will probably be left behind at some point after Leopard's released.
